David C. Hazen was born in Pennsylvania in 1944.He enlisted in the Navy in 1965. His service included tours in the USS Liberty AGTR-5 (1965-67), USS Yellowstone AD-41 (1980-83) and USS Saipan LHA2 (1983-85). He served in the Navy from 1965 to 1989 when he died in an automobile accident, having achieved the rate of Gunners Mate Chief.
